Another Tiered Skirt

I finally finished the second skirt for Ellen. It really didn't take much time to sew, but finding the time to sew was the problem. It's hard to tell in the picture, but there are five tiers in this skirt.

Also, just for my enjoyment, I am posting a picture of Emily. She's such a sweet doll baby!

Flap Hat

5 years ago when Jacob was a baby I made him one of these "flap hats." Now that summer is about here I've been thinking of making a flap hat for Emily to help protect her from the sun when we're outside. After a bit of googling, I found the link to the pattern for the hat and I thought I'd share it here. If I recall, the hat went together pretty easily and came out really cute. For Em I just need to find a girly fabric from my stash and get started. Hopefully I'll get the hat made before the summer is ended!

Btw, the second tiered skirt for Ellen is almost finished. I just need to put the elastic in the waist and do a final pressing! Ruth

Ellie's Tiered Skirt

After thinking about it and talking about it for so long, I finally made Ellie a skirt! When I bought the fabric, I just estimated on the yardage, and really, I should have bought more because I
wanted the skirt to be a bit longer.

Ellen loves bright colors, and she is so pleased with her new skirt. It went together quite easily, and I plan on making her another one this week. Next time I want to add more fullness to each tier. I like how this skirt came out, but don't you think that it should have more gathers in the tiers?
